Ogham Lore

Legend speaks of the Ogham Staves and alphabet as a direct gift from Ogma, the Celtic God of wisdom, learning and language. Each stave (or few) is representative of one of the sacred and idigenous trees of Britain, thirteen of which are associated with the moon and the ancient calendar. Traditionally staves are thrown upon cloth or a patch of sanctified ground, or else drawn from a bundle.
Below is a list of abbreviated stave meanings.

Beth - Letter: B Tree: Birch. New purification beginnings, making plans and a major step forward,
Luis - Letter: L.Tree: Rowan. Controls Own Life. Protection against control by others
Nion - Letter: N. Tree: Ash. Balance and inner peace.
Fearn - Letter: F, V. Tree: Alder. Strength, Spiritual guidance and protection. Help in making choices.
Coll - Letter: C. Tree: Hazel. Creativity, poetry, divination, mediation, wisdom.
Quert - Letter: Q.Tree: Apple.Youthfulness and Beauty
Muin - Letter: M.Tree: Bramble (non-tree) or, Vine group. Release from restraints, the ability to speak openly and honestly. Inner development.
Gort - Letter: G. Tree: Ivy (non-tree). Change and Progress.
Ngetal  (Neetle) - Letter: Ng - P. Tree: Reed (non-tree) Spiritual wisdom, harmony between self and world.
Straif - Letter: Z, Ss, St, Z. Tree: Blackthorn (non-tree). Bad luck, strife, unexpected changes. Resentment, confusion, refusing to see truth.
Ruis - Letter: R. Tree: Elder. Primary Faerie tree. Cycles of change and the transition from one state to another.
Ailim (Alim) - Letter: A. Tree: Scotch Pine (Silver Fir). Insight and potential wisdom, self esteem, strength and personal power, Progression.
Saille - Letter: S. Tree: Willow. Spiritual intuition. Moon and fertility, creativity, imagination.
Huathe  (Huath)- Letter: H. Tree: Hawthorn. Abstinence and excess (opposite rules of sexuality). Being held back for a period of time.
Duir - Letter: D. Tree: Oak. Solidity, steadfastness, and Protection, Strength and Endurance. Security.
Tinne - Letter: T. Tree: Holly. Fair play, balance, right overcoming wrong. Strength, power, guidance. .
Furze - Letter: O. Tree: Gorse. Collecting of valuable knowledge. Testing, purification, ultimate goal.
Ura  (Ur)- Letter U, W. Tree: Heather and Mistletoe. Luck, magnificent obsession . Healing and development on the spiritual level.
Eado (Eadha) - Letter: E. Tree: White Poplar or Aspen. Overcoming.
Idaho (Ioho) - Letter: I, V, Y. Tree: Yew. New strength and enthusiasm and the ability to understand the hidden truths. Immortality. Complete change in life, direction or attitude.
